The City has just got Sexy: Sex And The City movie launch
May 14, 2008
It’s been four years since they graced our screens with designer shoes, excessive spending and sexual antics. Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Kim have been stored away in the dark for far too long and this May 28th we can finally welcome them back in their full reigning glory in the Sex And The City The Movie.
The four fashionitas were rumoured to have handbags at dawn behind the scenes, so what has finally persuaded them to do a whole movie together? Sarah Jessica Parker told Grazia magazine: “There just came a point when I thought it was now or never. I don’t think it would’ve been right to do it on the heels of the TV show. We got a much better story now.”
If you’re a Sex And The City fan as I’am then the movie release as not come a moment to soon. Although the season finale ended with Carrie in Mr Big’s arms I, among others, wasn’t convinced the fairytale strong enough to last. Mr Big’s sudden commitment was a convincing as David Cleaver’s from Bridget Jones.
Hopefully the movie will seal the deal on the relationship reassuring us all is well in the city that never sleeps. We are not just holding our breath in the love department but in the fashion department too, Carrie is bound to pull out some surprising pieces out the wardrobe, Sarah Jessica Parker tells Grazia: “There’s some Vivienne Westwood collection, plus there are some of Pat Field’s outrageous choices. But I’d never wear alot of Carrie’s clothes in real life.”
A sigh of relief all round then. Stylists have nit picked Carrie and the crews latest trend choices and we can safely say the results are not pretty. The fashion icon looks like she’s the victim of a designers war, being draped and wrapped in a jumble of catwalk trends. The outfits might be intending to scream out the powerful and proud persona of the movie’s characters but this falls flatter on it’s face than Miranda tottering in wedges.
Fashion flaws, behind the scene claws just add to the appeal of this highly anticipated event. So grab a tub of Ben & Jerry’s and nab a couple of friends, this screening is the perfect girlie flick.
